Designate a legal graffiti wall in Islington

We the undersigned petition the council to designate a legal graffiti wall in Islington. The Council prides itself for providing local residents with opportunities to produce, participate in and experience exceptional arts and culture, but does not have a single area dedicated to graffiti where urban artists can paint legally without the risk of being fined or even sentenced to prison.

Designating a legal area where artists can work would give local artists the opportunity to flourish and display their work publicly, strengthening Islington's creativity and local art scene. It would also give a chance to anyone who has ever been curious about the art to experience it first hand, providing aspiring artists with an opportunity to show their talent and creativity in a safe and legal manner.

Legal graffiti walls offer the perfect platform for bringing urban artists and community members together and forge lasting, positive relationships that benefit our neighborhoods. They also encourage the younger generations to practice art rather than other unsocial behaviours.
