The Ben Kinsella Award 2015

To present the Ben Kinsella Award to 2015 to KEELEY TIMMS.

Minutes:

 

Following an introduction to the Award from George Kinsella, the Mayor and Aimee Brannen from the Islington Gazette presented the Ben Kinsella Award for 2015 to Keely Timms.

Civic Awards 2014/15

To present Civic Awards to the following people:

DAVID DADE

MAKING IT REAL - EXPERTS BY EXPERIENCE

Minutes:

 

Following speeches by various nominators, the Mayor and Aimee Brannon from the Islington Gazette presented Civic Awards for 2014/15 to:

 

            Gemma Bell

            Graham Coutt

            David Dade

            Lenny Hagland

            Dennis Kleinberg

            Making it Real – Experts by Experience

            Stephanie Smith

Presentation of the Freedom of the Borough

 

 

In this connection Councillor Richard Watts seconded by Councillor Burgess will move the motion as follows:

That, by virtue of the power vested in it by Section 249 of the Local Government Act 1972, the Council does admit
George Durack and the Islington Veteran’s Associations as Freepersons of the London Borough of Islington.

Minutes:

 

Councillor Richard Watts moved the following motion:

 

That, by virtue of the power vested in it by Section 249 of the Local Government Act 1972, the Council do admit George Durack and the Islington Veterans Association as Honorary Freepersons of the London Borough of Islington in recognition of the significant contributions they have made to the life of the Borough.

 

Councillor Burgess seconded the motion.

 

Councillor Poole also spoke in support of the motion.

 

The Mayor put the motion to the vote and it was carried unanimously.

 

George Durack and Mark Samson, on behalf of the Islington Veterans Association, signed the Roll of Honorary Freepersons and were each presented with a framed certificate, verifying their admission as Freepersons, by the Mayor.

 

Both George and Mark each spoke and thanked the Council for the award of the honour.
