We the undersigned petition the council to reject these Planning Applications. We are local residents who object to these plans for the market.
However, we welcome development of the market that maintains and improves a diverse retail shopping offer that serves the needs of the local community. Too many hot food and alcohol businesses will not best serve local residents, and will lead to many negative environmental impacts.
We want a Nags Head Covered Market that serves local people.
The main reasons for our objection are noise and disruption to local residents late into the evening and the potential for crime and Anti-Social Behaviour arising out of late night opening of the market and the sale of alcohol.
We also fear the market could become a party/night-club venue through mission creep by subsequent planning and licensing applications for increased hours of opening into the evening and the early morning.
The market has a record of: non-compliance with planning rules; a number of outstanding planning breaches; and avoidance of proper public scrutiny. Local residents therefore do not trust the applicants.
