We the undersigned petition the council to urge Islington Council to look favourably upon any future planning application to develop the site, known as the Archway Methodist Hall, for private housing so long as adequate provision is made for a proportion of the proposed housing to be affordable and for some of the proposed Ground Floor Retail space to be set aside for community use.
With regard to the fact that the building has been empty and
disused for 29 years,we are of the opinion that it is high time
that the impasse between the current owners and the Council plus
some local residents and a local pressure group is ended and that a
sensible solution is sought which would involve granting the
current owners permission to develop the site for retail use and
private housing with the above provisos. We, as concerned local
residents, are fed up with the continuing blight and run-down feel
that this disused building brings to Archway and to our
community
